New Classes at Ringwood Sewing Centre

Hi everyone

The new school year has begun here in Australia, and with one child still at school I am rejoicing at a bit of time to get some stuff done.

I find that I get so much more accomplished when I have the house to myself, I turn up the radio (Smooth 91.5fm of course) and really get going. I have promised myself to make loads of videos this year, and keep blogging so remember to keep watching to see what is going on.

My second video of the year is one all about my shop, Ringwood Sewing Centre, where we have truly wonderful staff and tutors.  I think you will love what we have planned for classes and workshops, so take a look ...

Sewing makes me happy!

Cara's first success

The video I made for Cara worked well, and she reported back that the problem was that she had not been using the spool caps!  Just goes to show it is often the small things that we slip up on.

This weekend she has used her machine to re-work a vintage dress. I'm not sure what she did exactly (here's hoping she will tell us!), but she seems very happy with the result.

Teaching Cara to Sew ....

Life is full of surprises, and the news that my darling daughter Cara wanted to sew was one of those!

My eldest child, Cara.

Cara came home to Australia (she lives in London, UK) for Christmas, and went back to her home with a new Pfaff Passport 2.0.  She plans to learn to sew so that she can make clothes and alter vintage clothes that she loves.  She is a very crafty and artistic person so I have no doubt that she will really fly once she gets going, but with all first time sewers she will need to learn some fundamentals.  So between the two of us we decided that we would blog her journey from novice to something else during 2015.

I will share what I teach her on this blog, including making video's for her, and she will share her progress.  It should be lots of fun, and who know's how it will go.

Tonight I very quickly made her first video showing her how to thread her machine. We did this while she was here for Christmas, but she has forgotten, and was frustrated at getting good tension when she sat to sew this week.

And so, for Cara and anyone else who wants to learn to sew, here is the first video ....

A word of apology, I forgot to turn on the light so you can't quite see me!
