A new chapter in Social Media .....

Is social media all it is made out to be?

This is a question facing so many businesses, as they struggle to find the time to maintain a social media presence while not forgetting the core business.  Yesterday I had lunch with a great friend, Jeni Cross.  Jeni owns a hugely successful business, Plane Tree Farm.  This beautiful shop is a treasure trove of delightful prestige home decorating items and linen. I just love to visit and enjoy the simple pleasure of gazing at beautiful quality!  Jeni even maintains a work room in WA where her employees turn out custom linen for clients all over the world.  Jeni and I often compare our business journey, and yesterday we took some time to review our social media experiences.

I had attended a business session at BizWeek with BizMaroondah, our local government business development unit. The presenter was fantastic, and I had attended the same session around 3 years ago. The session was Strategic Planning for Social Media, and we explored many tools including Think Google to track the online buying journey of a typical customer.  We both agreed that too much energy was being spent in social media where there was no or little return on the investment of resources.

Every since my Strategic Planning session I have been working on a new strategy for Ringwood Sewing Centre, and my team is now fine tuning the details of that strategy.

The great news is that we will be refocusing on using our Blog as the principal way on informing and inspiring our customers!  If you aren't on Facebook you will be really pleased that you will find lots of great information right here on our blog!

So what can you expect?

Over the next month or so our team will be ramping up their participation in writing blog posts here on the official blog of Ringwood Sewing Centre AND the Long Arm Quilting Centre.  You will see that every blog will be signed by the person writing it, and they will happily answer any questions you may have.

Michelle will then pull together the finest blog pieces and collate them into our eNews, and this will go out once a month.  Additional emails will be sent to invite you to events, and advise of new classes.

Will we be on Facebook?  Yes.  But we will be investing our time in this blog, and working hard to make it a fun, informative and interactive way to communicate with our customers.

Welcome to the new beginnings .......

Michelle
